RED DIRECTORS

New York, NY

Band Dudes: Trevor Potts, Joe Mangan, Matthew Churchill, & Brett Thompson

Formed in New York City in 2004, Red Directors is a mixture of rock, pop, punk, and epic solo piano song writing. With their wide range of style, timeless hooks, and rich harmonies… all mixed with a raw, high-energy performance… Red Directors have been drawing people from all over and caused many to freak out over their live shows.

Red Directors members: Trevor Potts (songwriter, vocals, guitar, piano), Joe Mangan (bass), Matt Churchill (lead electric guitar), Brett Thompson (drums) and Justin Etheredge (Keys) have been referred to as the “the guys next door” who simply unload the power when it is time for them to take the stage. Not too long ago, Red Directors were playing for friends in their studio/rehearsal space, which is an old school, cedar-shingled shed tucked away in a secret spot. It took no time for these wise-asses to take their musical vision out of the shed and into some of the best-known clubs in New York City as well as up and down the East Coast.

The track, “Been Around” has been described as a “genuine and timeless acoustic ballad that strikes a chord with it’s authenticity”. ”Amazing” has also garnered much respect and is one of the band's most well received tracks where lyrically, Potts, again, combines raw intimacy with a gruff confidence and floods the audience with a tidal wave of sound and human emotion.

Red Directors prove that there are still raw and compelling bands ripping through the clubs of New York City. Red Directors and their mission have only just begun

HISTORY:

Trevor Potts - Lead Vocals, Guitar, Keys: (Aka Nibbles)... Pound for pound the best energy in town... stick and move baby, stick and move.  He's currently lobbying in Washington to make "Bathrobe Tuesday" a nation wide mandate.

Matthew Churchill - Electric Guitar: (aka Church, aka Chooch) Matt schlepped down from Anchorage, Alaska to New York in the spring of 2000. He met Trevor through a mutual friend and started playing music with him shortly after... they've been playing together ever since. He hates long walks on the beach... and can't stand sunsets. He loves playing with the band but his real passion is working on improving the shelf life of the Twinkie. He lives in Queens in an alley behind a Diner, although he is thinking of upgrading to a dumpster in the new Citi Field parking lot.

Joe Mangan - Bass & Harmony Vocals: J. Mangan is from Philadelphia. He and Trevor were formally introduced at a fraternity function at an unknown college in New Hampshire, back in the good old days. Besides music, Joe does a lot of paperwork.

Brett Thompson - Drums:  Brett is a veteran drummer in the New York City music scene. He's played in many bands ranging from Japanese electro pop, to hard hitting metal & punk bands. Although he is new to the Red Directors team, with the energy he brings to the table, he's already made an impact and is quickly becoming a big part of their musical future.

Band History: After Leaving Polymer66 in 2000 and putting out a solo record in 2001, Trevor grabbed Matthew Churchill (guitar), Jon Doran (bass), and Spencer Potts (Drums) to form Echo Lane. Shortly after Jay Wert (guitar) joined the band Echo Lane appeared in Rolling Stone's January issue and headlined New York's Howl Festival. In 2003 Spencer left the band to pursue other "more corporate" dreams... as a result, after a brief stint with Matt Torrey behind the wheel, Joe Polacik entered the band and took over the drums. In 2005 Jay Wert left the band to be a grown up and start a family (it's ok... we love him anyway). Joe Mangan then entered the picture as a guitar player and did not actually play bass for Echo Lane until 2006 when Jon Doran left the band to dive into a fabulously successful film career. Drummer, Joe Polacik, left the band in 2009 to pursue his career as a production designer and to settle down with his new lovely wife, Val. This is when, as a group, they decided to reform and relaunch as Red Directors and have been rockin the crap out of clubs in NY as well as other venues up and down the east coast ever since. I guess good things come to those who stick around.

Media Dudes: Jon Doran, Remi Glestos

Jon Doran - Formerly the bassist and now the band's Media Making Machine. Basically, the dude makes shit and has made seriously cool shit for other well known artists. He rolls deep with the band and the beat stops....NEVER!

Remi Gletsos - Remi is a secret weapon in the band's visual creative process.  He is a true verteran of the visual arts originating as a filmmaker as a kid to studying film and design in college.  Remi is Media Making Machine Part Deux.  He has worked with some big time artists and been part of the team with Jon Doran for years.  This dude, makes it happen!
